“Running water never grows stale.” – Bruce Lee.” – Bruce Lee
Everything in life flows and changes around us: time passes, events fade into oblivion, and people come and go in our lives. This constant change and flow characterises our lives. The saying “Running water never grows stale” is thus relevant here.
We can learn from Wing Tsun Kung Fu that movement and flow are our resources. Martial arts utilise this approach to fighting. For instance, a stationary fighter is easily defeated, because their rigidity prevents them from adapting to changing situations. Flow and movement, however, makes it possible for the fighter to react quickly and exploit the void left by their opponent. Therefore, “Running water never grows stale" in Wing Tsun Kung Fu teaches us that flow and adaptation are our strength and our opponents' weakness.
Furthermore, the moral of “Running water never grows stale” can also be applied to our personal lives: when we get used to a certain routine and confine ourselves to familiarity, it is easy to get stuck in a (life) situation. Nevertheless, life is constantly changing and we must be able to adapt to these changes as well. If we rigidly stick to our habitual way of acting and thinking, we may encounter difficulties when the flow of life takes a different direction.
The principle of “Running water never grows stale” teaches us to be open and adaptable to the challenges and changes of life. Instead of adamantly holding onto our ideas and plans, we should be open and seize novel opportunities and changes life has to offer us. Only by adapting and allowing the flow to guide us can we take advantage of the opportunities and thrive.
Hence, “Running water never grows stale", both in Wing Tsun Kung Fu and in our personal lives, teaches us that flow and adaptation are the source of our strength and progress. Instead of adhering undeviatingly to the familiar, we must be open to change and let the flow of life guide us. Only then can we achieve a state of success and harmony both in our external and internal worlds
What should one know about the history of Wing Tsun?
Wing Tsun kungfu is an ancient Chinese martial art created by a nun hundreds of years ago. There are hundreds of branches of kung fu, but Wing Tsun is the only one founded by a woman. Over the years, the nun realized that she could only use the style she practiced effectively when she was young, and as she gets older, the chances of her being able to defend herself especially against a younger, stronger man than herself decrease.

The old master appointed Leung Ting, his last student, as his successor, who is still the grandmaster of Wing Tsun kung-fu. He has introduced Wing Tsun in more than sixty countries and regularly visits our country and teaches Hungarian students. In Hungary, this is the largest kungfu school, both in the country and in the world when compared to the population of countries.
Wing Tsun kungfu is included in the training material of the FBI and Bundeswehr due to its high-level self-defense capabilities, and it is also taught in several police and military schools in our country.
What is the history of Wing Tsun in Hungary?
The Hungarian Wing Tsun Association is the oldest and largest kung fu school in Hungary. The founder and leader, Dai-Si-Fu Máday Norbert, was the first person to start teaching Wing Tsun kungfu in Hungary in 1986.
Since 1991, Máday Si-Fu has been the personal disciple of Grandmaster Leung Ting, the only non-Chinese guardian of the secrets of Wing Tsun.
His activity is characterized by conducting countless training camps, seminars and exams.
In 2001, Grandmaster Leung Ting asked him to be the chief instructor of the American Wing Tsun schools.
Together with 62 other countries, the Hungarian Wing Tsun Association is an official member of the International Wing Tsun Association. Prof. Leung Ting, the Grandmaster of Wing Tsun Kung-Fu, has visited our country once a year since 1991, twice in 1998 and 2000 to teach and test deserving students for master levels.
His personal presence is extremely important for both instructors and students, as it allows them to confirm, among other things, that
1. they learn real and ancient Chinese martial arts;
2. the diploma they receive for their knowledge is recognized by all official
bodies in the world;
3. they learn the same original techniques as their fellow students from the
East.
The president of the association is Dai-Si-Fu Máday Norbert, the Chief Instructor for Eastern Europe. He is the personal disciple of Grandmaster Leung Ting and oversees operations in Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, and Lithuania. Apart from the Asian countries, only the Eastern European Association belongs directly to the Grandmaster.

9 REASONS WHY WING TSUN KUNG FU BENEFITS YOUR CHILD
IT BOOSTS THE CHILD’S SELF-CONFIDENCE.
The most significant advantage of martial arts training is that children's self-confidence enhances through improved physique, coordination ability, personal safety, and discipline. Boosted self-confidence helps them make appropriate decisions already in their early years both at school or in various areas of their own lives.
IMPROVED PHYSIQUE.
The positive effects of physical activity upon children have been documented in numerous studies. Physically active children have fewer chronic health problems than those mostly sitting at school or at home. Every training session consists of continuous physical activities during which all muscles, joints, and ligaments are mobilised to avoid excessive strain on the body, such as overstrengthening the bones of the fist. Although a hard fist is a Kung Fu fist, we believe in the saying: “Hit the hard with softness, and hit the soft with hardness". Our Wing Tsun Kung Fu training sessions engage the whole body and teaching children the value of good physical fitness helps them become fit, healthy adults.
IMPROVED MOTOR COORDINATION.
In addition to moving the body and improving fitness, Wing Tsun Kung Fu training enhances motor coordination, balance, spatial perception, reflexes, etc.
ENHANCED PERSONAL SAFETY.
The ability to defend oneself in unpleasant or potentially dangerous situations results in inner peace and equilibrium. Most of the self-defence techniques mastered during training sessions will not be necessary to deploy outside of training. Leaving the training room, the person’s raised consciousness enables them to recognise and avoid violent situations and the conflicts that they may entail as much as possible.
IMPROVED CONCENTRATION
Improved concentration is a natural part of Wing Tsun Kung Fu training sessions. The student has to master a number of movements and techniques and focus upon their precise execution. Unsurprisingly, it also has a positive effect upon work, school and private life.
ENHANCED SELF-DISCIPLINE.
Learning Wing Tsun Kung Fu early in life may establish a lifelong pattern in children, helping them set and achieve goals through dedication and sacrifice. Since high-level competence cannot be acquired overnight, students realise that achieving their goals requires patience, hard work, and several years of training.
SHOWING RESPECT IS ONE OF THE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF WING TSUN KUNG FU.
Students show respect to each other, to their instructors, and even to their school. This conveys several messages: not merely gratitude for the knowledge received, but also respect and appreciation for the skills of their peers or instructors. Wing Tsun Kung Fu teaches the practitioner to respect the age, expertise, and experience of others. Respecting those who are more experienced than the student is—and have proven it—exhibits that the student is worthy of mastering the skills of Wing Tsun Kung Fu. This respect shown towards instructors and older students also extends to relationships with older family members, colleagues, schoolmates, and teachers. During pair formation, the students greet each other with a Kung Fu greeting and a bow, which signifies the following: "I take care of you, fellow Kung Fu student".
CHILDREN BECOME CALMER.
Due to the intensity of Wing Tsun Kung Fu training, children can relieve school-related stress and tension. Experienced martial artists are able to keep their calm outside of the training environment too. Although this inner peace is the result of several factors, it is most likely the consequence of students being exposed to stress when learning self-defence—and learning how to deal with it. The confidence gained through mastering Wing Tsun Kung Fu techniques helps maintain composure even in stressful situations.
WING TSUN KUNG FU IS FUN AND FULL OF JOY!
WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE OUR CLUB FOR YOUR CHILD
The training of the children requires a lot of attention from the instructors. Partly because young people's attention wanders easily, and their ability to concentrate upon a specific task does not last as long as that of adults. However, they possess other qualities that make them more capable of mastering Wing Tsun. They are open-minded, honest, and able to accept statements that they themselves have not yet been convinced of. This is why it is vital that they learn in good hands with competent instructors. The instructors of the children's group in Miskolc participate in regular training sessions at the central training facility in Kecskemét, thus ensuring they pass on competence of sufficient quality to the younger generation. All our instructors are students themselves!
